A Weekend In Review

Papa Bear left us this weekend to go backpacking/camping (for his first time ever!) at Cottonwood Lake. I met up with the Christine, Denny and Denny's Girlfriend for happy hour at Public School in LA for food and drinks. The place had happy hour on a Saturday from 4-7 PM, so that's already good in my book, and the food and drinks turned out to be not so shabby either! We headed to Syrup after for dessert, then said our goodbyes and headed home. I've never lived in LA, but am definitely a fan of how many things are within walking distance of each other, which is almost the opposite of how it is in Orange county. Hopefully, we'll live somewhere one day where we can walk more places in the future. The rest of the weekend was basically just mama and Kir time. It was kind of weird having all that time by ourselves and we were definitely glad when Papa Bear came home. We were also glad to hear that Papa had a really good time (even though it was freezing cold, literally) and can't wait to go backpacking/camping again. :]

A Weekend in Review

Consecutive weekends in Vegas! We headed to Vegas this past weekend on Friday for Jessica and Huy's wedding on Saturday. Jason likes to drive either really late or really early to go to and come from Vegas to beat traffic, so we typically only end up being there a little more than 24 hours every trip.

On Saturday afternoon, we had lunch with Jason's Grandma at a Japanese restaurant near her house, then headed to Luv-It for some frozen custard! We got champagne cherry and the blueberry as an afterthought and the blueberry turned out to be super delicious. After heading back to Jason's parents' house to get ready, we headed to the M to check in. Neither of us had been to the M before and it had always been a mystery to me, like what is that casino that's all the way out in the middle of nowhere? Turned out to be pretty nice! In the bathroom, they had wine glass shaped glasses for the bathroom glasses. That's fancy.

The wedding was beautiful. I had a really hard time not crying during the ceremony, everybody was so full of emotion. We headed to the reception after and had an awesome time drinking, eating, and dancing. It's pretty neat to hear stories about Jason from when he was younger. Of course, everybody had nothing but great things to say about him. He's the same stud today that he was back in the day in Las Vegas. ;] Congratulations Huy & Jessica!

The last picture is Kirin with her new friend. A friend posted a picture of one of these giraffes on Instagram and so I was on the hunt for him when we went to Costco. Jason was basically inside the giant box trying to search for one of the giraffes at the front, but there only seemed to be monkeys, elephants, and tigers. I was disappointed but then we got to the back, found more and he was ours!

Hope everybody had a good weekend and has an even greater week.

Love Notes

In preparation for making the place cards for our wedding, my Maid of Honor (Christine) and I took a trip to Paper Source where we were introduced (re-introduced for me from childhood) to the wonderful world of embossing. You probably can't tell from the picture, but the little bear is embossed and the little heart balloons are just punched out of leftover scrapbook paper. This one was super easy and fun to make, but I feel like I could have done the strings better. This one ended up going to Christine and I wrote in the card that I'm going to do a whole series of animals with balloons cards to her so I guess there's always next time.

Unfortunately, I accidentally drew on the bear's head, but I'm just going to say that adds character. :]

A Weekend in Review

This past weekend basically consisted of food, food, and more food. Wedding diet is over so the feasting has begun!

After parking outside for about a week under lots of trees when our garage was broken, our cars had gotten pretty dirty. We took them to the car wash Saturday early afternoon and went to go have lunch at Win Thai since it was within walking distance while waiting for the cars.

That night, I met up with Christine and Starla to feast! Our first stop was Lola Gaspar, we each ordered one item and shared the duck mac and cheese, and dessert! Unfortunately, after the first serving I was too busy feasting to take any pictures. The drink in the first picture is called a Huckleberry made of bourbon, honey, grapefruit, thyme, and bitters. Although, I'm a fan of bourbon served straight, this cocktail was more than delicious.

Our next stop was Rite-Aid to get ice cream (I wasn't kidding about the feasting) and then we headed to Copper Door but they were closed for remodeling!!! Saddened, that our bellies would not be filled with strawberry beer, we headed to Proof instead. We were the first ones there, had a couple drinks, and once the younger crowd started coming, we headed home like the oldies we are. All in all, it was a very successful feasting night with two people I adore.

Today was quiet. We did our usual Sunday routine, had brunch at Cafe Casse Croute, and then Jason started making pot roast while I cleaned up the house a bit.

I am one lucky girl that I have a husband who cooks. Not only does he cook but he cooks really well! The pot roast was delicious, as usual, and I'm already looking forward to eating the leftovers tomorrow.

We ended the weekend trying to finish up our Thank You cards. We are almost done! We are just waiting for our "Keep in Touch" cards to come in to insert and send them off.

Hope everybody had a good weekend!

Wedding Photo Booth Fun

I had been anxiously awaiting the pictures from the photo booth at our wedding. (I've always been a fan of photo booths and pictures in general) When we got our album and thumb drive with the pictures, I discovered the strip version only of the pictures were on there. After seeing the disappointed look on my face, Jason inquired with the vendor and he sent the pictures right over. They're here! They're here!

Here are a few from the night...
