One Year!

We kicked off our anniversary celebration the day before at The Ranch near our house. It's a restaurant that's kind of in the middle of nowhere but has the most amazing food!

On our actual anniversary we had a picnic with our pups, the same way Jason proposed! We live by a "lake" (It's man made) so we headed out there with the pups, some champagne and some picnic food.

And of course, we had to eat our year old cake. By eat, I mean take a bite. It actually wasn't too bad considering it was a year old and had been transferred between our freezer and my parents' freezer when ours was on the fritz!

Here's to one and to our forever! People always say the first year is the hardest...but I really didn't think it was that hard! (Jason's opinion might differ though :] ) Can't wait for what our second year has in store for us!

Grandma's House

The groomer that our pup (now pups) go to is near my parents' house in Walnut. Before there was only Kirin, but now there are two! Thankfully, my mom is still gracious enough to keep them overnight so off to Grandmother’s house we went! (It’s really Grandparent’s house, but that’s not a saying!) We tried out the dog seat belts on the way there and despite their cries and whimpering the ENTIRE way there, we made it! (I guess maybe we can use it as practice for future kids??) Sorry in advance for all the blurry pictures, they were running around really fast!

Man up

We got new harnesses for the pups in an attempt to make them not look so girly for Jason's sake. Little white fluffballs wearing bright pink heart vests was getting to be a little much even for me, and that's saying something!

Daily Life

Haven't been much going on around here, just the usual daily life consisting of working, eating, sleeping, and walking the pup pictured above. We've been going on more daily walks to ensure the bub is getting enough exercise. How far we walk is completely dependent on her mood, but we're usually able to make it fairly far.

We're planning a trip to Asia in October, but before that we have a couple of weddings. Julia & Ben's the first weekend of May and my brother's the last weekend of May! After reading my brother and his fiancee's wedding site, I already know I'm going to cry at their wedding. I'm so happy (although, I feel "happy" doesn't begin to describe it)  that he has found someone who makes him happy and has been so supportive of him during his time away in medical school. Really excited for both weddings!

5. Rummikub
6. Kir bear hiding from the noise of the tiles from Rummikub!

A Day At the Beach

This warm January weather got us thinking about an outdoor activity to do with our bug. After much debate between hiking or the dog beach, we settled on the dog beach since we are still waiting for her pup sling. (I know, I know...we're one of those people). Since she's so small, about five pounds, we really don't think she'll be able to make a hike the whole way. Add in the fact that she already has joint problems, it's best to be able to carry her when necessary! Trying to keep her happy and healthy is the main goal. Back to the beach, she seemed to have had fun. Chasing after dogs much bigger than herself, going over and visiting other people's blankets, sitting on people's backs, and probably the fact that Jason didn't dunk her like he said he would was on added bonus. This warm weather is a little unusual for January, even in California, but was much welcomed after the cold weather we've been having lately.

A Weekend In Review

The weekend was full of birthday celebrations. Jason took me to one of our favorite sushi places, Sushi Murasaki, on Friday for my birthday. On Saturday afternoon, we went out to Happy Harbor for surprise dim sum for Tim Yao's birthday, his birthday is a day after mine on the 23rd! Saturday night, we went out to eat with my parents for me and my Dad's birthday (his birthday is on the 26th!). We tried to eat at the place where my brother will be having his wedding reception next year, but it was crazy crowded so we ended up at a different restaurant. Sunday was just relaxing and hanging out. Twenty-six has been a blessed and exciting year and I excited to find out what 27+ has in store.

A Weekend In Review

Papa Bear left us this weekend to go backpacking/camping (for his first time ever!) at Cottonwood Lake. I met up with the Christine, Denny and Denny's Girlfriend for happy hour at Public School in LA for food and drinks. The place had happy hour on a Saturday from 4-7 PM, so that's already good in my book, and the food and drinks turned out to be not so shabby either! We headed to Syrup after for dessert, then said our goodbyes and headed home. I've never lived in LA, but am definitely a fan of how many things are within walking distance of each other, which is almost the opposite of how it is in Orange county. Hopefully, we'll live somewhere one day where we can walk more places in the future. The rest of the weekend was basically just mama and Kir time. It was kind of weird having all that time by ourselves and we were definitely glad when Papa Bear came home. We were also glad to hear that Papa had a really good time (even though it was freezing cold, literally) and can't wait to go backpacking/camping again. :]
